This is a collaboration we did with Matt Davies and Melanie Clifford in which we experimented with the optical soundtrack on analogue film.

We printed images of our etchings onto blank 35mm film, and made them into loops. These were printed slightly too big for the 35mm and so the images overlapped onto the audio area of the film. As the film goes through the projector converts these images into both visual and audio signals, creating sound as well as a picture. Below is also a selection of images that we printed onto stickers, which Melaine and Matt then stuck onto loops of film as it was going through the projector.

These processes created audio and visual rhythms which we then mixed together.
