ceramic record workshop
The workshop begins with a brief history of recorded sound and in particular the development and evolution of vinyl records.
Participants then use turntables as automatic drawing tools to create their own record sleeves. To make the ceramic record, participants place a clay disc onto a turntable and then carve frequencies into the disc using our DIY sound lathes with clay tools attached. This workshop gives people a brief introduction into the physical and visual nature of sound.
